Worth the money, but the author should hire a real editor

This is a great concept for a series. Unfortunately, the writing makes it hard to read - its like you're listening to your grandpa tell a story, its a good story, but a little corny at times and too many things repeated, and odd points of emphasis. I can't help but think that a good editor would see the potential, but also fix the problems.

Forgettable characters and repetition.

Well endgame is here and I'm kind of relieved that the story come to a conclusion. It is weird reading books only for the overall story and not one bit for the characters or the writing.

During all these books there have not been one character I got interested in and cared about. The aliens are extremely one dimensional and you could sum them up by the two sentences the writer use over and over again to describe them.
Hocklyn's "Much honor will come to us"
Bears "Let's hunt together"

The amount of repetition in these books are staggering and sometimes even feels insulting to me as a reader as if the writer think I am a goldfish with a three second memory capacity. If you took away the repetition the books could probably be cut by almost a third.

The only thing that have kept me reading is the overall story which is good. To bad that the characters are so forgettable and the dialog is basically just the writer explaining things to the reader for the quadrillion time.

I've enjoyed all aspects of the series through Tread Fearless! There's good insight for people that have never considered disaster scenarios (most of us) woven throughout an interesting story. I'm really looking forward to the next book!

A great follow up! Can't wait for the next one in the series!

I loved Tread Fearless. I love the addition of the two characters Mark and Lauren. In the earlier books, Mark is mentioned several times and in this book, his story really picks up. His travels and explorations of the FEMA camps might shed some light on what is a possibiity if you end up in a FEMA camp someday. Lauren is a breath of fresh air as well. John and Pete and the crew are making their way to Colorado and thier travels are also enlightening. I really like how even though we get a view of the bad things that can happen or what bad people can do with power, in this book, we also see alot of good people just trying to survive. We get a glimpse of all kinds of people and all walks of life in both John's and Mark's travels. The cattle ranchers in Oklahoma and the two sets of "just kids" trying to make sense of what is happening as they are lost without their parents, the lawyer with the 2 boys, etc...you will see what I mean when you read the book. We also get a glimpse of survivors whose spouses are dead. A very real probability or possibilty in light of this new post-disaster world. And of coarse, a little bit of love is in the air too. A nice touch for the romantics in us. Great book. Can't wait for the next book in the series!

About the Author
Sarah Blossom Ware was born to hippie parents in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1974. When she was three years old, she moved with her parents and two-year-old brother to the Ozark Foothills where she lived out her youth as an Arkansas hillbilly. Sarah has written a humorous yet true snapshot memoir entitled Hillbilly Justice on the School Bus documenting her childhood experiences. Sarah received a doctorate degree in 2006 from Wageningen University in the Netherlands. She currently resides with her husband and four daughters in the Chicago area where she teaches in the Department of Biological Science at Benedictine University.

A highly entertaining read about an unconventional Arkansas upbringing

Ever wondered what it would be like to live in the Arkansas hills without indoor plumbing or electricity- in recent times? Sarah Ware's memoir of Arkansas country living in the 1970s and 1980s with her hippie parents is a really fun read as the author relates incidents from her upbringing. From living in a tent to Granny's "flat world" theories, the storytelling in this book kept me mesmerized throughout. The photos at the end are a real bonus that lend richness to the narrative. Highly recommended!

Sarah's family and ours were neighbors on our Ozark mountain. She was a perceptive little child when we first met, quiet but interested in everything around her. Apparently, she didn't miss much! Part of that life she's given back to us in a witty story, well done and lots of fun to read.

I loved this book

I loved this book. I read a lot, and I am very picky. If you like Penny Reid then try this book. The book takes you on a journey of a relationship between wren and jax. I like some of the twists, and I really liked her writing style. It has great plot development and not over taken with any sex scenes.

this is not a book I would recommend.

This book was a quick read. The plot line had too many sub stories that lead to nothing, and the character development was lacking. When the main character finally united with the male lead my thought was" really?! When did switch to liking him?! Was it just because he bought her clothes?!" Sadly, this is not a book I would recommend.

My first review, a tale of caution

I'm almost sad I wasted time finishing this book. I didn't have high expectations to begin with, but the book still fell flat. The story is not exactly an original tale but still, sometimes I'm just looking for a fresh take, or interesting characters, all on the same road to the same conclusion.

This book went everywhere you expected, no surprises, no originality. You expected every turn and saw all the drama coming from a mile away. Worst of all the characters were so cliche, they were caricatures. Nothing about either H/ h made me root for them.

Seriously, the h, whose name I've already forgotten less than 24 hours after finishing, is such a self described wreck who can't do anything right is also apparently a great baker, better than the 2 characters who actually do the baking, a great actress whose previous career consisted of unscripted roles, and on top of that the next best screenwriter!! I understand the angle, of not understanding your own worth, but really, making her great at everything, makes her low self-esteem unbelievable. Also the fact that she so easily gave in at the end, made her "walking off set" seem like a tantrum. If all it took was him saying sorry, it was before you met you might as well have stayed to finish your work.

Also the entire police involvement was a waste of time, a joke. About as useful as the character Cash himself.

I came into this not expecting much, and still walked away disappointed. Do yourself a favor, save yourself the time and money. I still can't believe I wasted 99� on this.

Brings together a lot of findings.

This book helped bring together a lot of the findings that are starting to make some degree of sense. When the author speculates, he clearly labels it so, and he does reference a great number of facts concerning the more recent (common era, or AD) successions of civilizations. It becomes clear in the book that there was an old civilization that predates the Inca, the workmanship of which with regard to stone, is far advanced. As we move toward modern times, the workmanship becomes cruder. By identifying sources of the megaliths and discussing them, we can begin to gather an understanding of a very different life at the time of megalithic construction. It seems most logical that a global disaster struck, which could've been due to a coronal mass injection, a meteor hit, catastrophic ice melting, or any other combination of events.

An association between megalithic structures and skeletons with extended skulls suggests that a different form of human being may have been behind these phenomenal works. The extended skulls are not due to binding, although skull malformations due to binding are indeed found in the region.

I have been following this author's work since it was first brought to my attention about a year and a half ago. The easy and smooth style of his narrative makes it a real pleasure to read. The information value is well worth the minor price for this e-book.

The author points out many on-site evidences that a more advanced technology for cutting, moving, and assembling some of the largest and hardest blocks of igneous rock existent anywhere on earth, has apparently developed very much earlier than most mainstream archeologists would allow. Some blocks of stonework, as reused by later paleo-indian cultures, would require diamond-studded saws or laser beam cutting if attempted to be duplicated to-day. Having followed up the reading of this book with an actual visit to some of the sites, evidences of precision-cut, squared blocks and "fused" mortar-less constructions that I observed, quite validated Foerster;s main contentions. Clearly, metal and stone-hammer tools (none even found!) could not have achieved some of the straight-line polished surfaces, and so archeologists really need to restudy such artifacts to resolve the intense mysteries that these sites contain.

This short book describes numerous archaeological sites in Peru and Bolivia, some of which are little known. The descriptions are open ended, rather than reaching conclusions without real data. Actual data is described and the Spanish are described according to their actions taken. Sharp contrasts are drawn between the Inca and an unknown civilization that built the megalithic structures upon which the Inca often constructed. This is a treasure trove for someone researching megalithic civilizations.

The publisher and authors promise more than they actually deliver in this text. The book is just another repeat of the usual stuffs about complex system. Nothing new and it is not a good read. Probably because the authors are not original and they are not offering good original examples.

Excellent textbook for an upper-level undergraduate student interested in communications and control. It was written over a number of years as the authors taught a course based on the material at MIT (6.011). A random handful of the problems at the end of each chapter serve as the problem sets, and there are exams for the course available on the MIT OCW website: http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-011-introduction-to-communication-control-and-signal-processing-spring-2010/

This book requires a strong foundation in signals and systems (see Oppenheim's classic Signals and Systems text, which is used in MIT's 6.003 course) as well as probability (see Bertsekas and Tsitsiklis's text, Introduction to Probability, used for MIT's 6.041 course).
